Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin)
BaFin is an independent German Federal agency in the area of operations of the German Federal Ministry of Finance. Headquartered in Bonn, BaFin supervises banks, financial service providers, insurance companies and securities traders in Germany and is thus responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, integrity and stability of the German financial system. BaFin represents the Federal Republic of Germany in numerous international supervisory bodies. The Bundesbank and BaFin cooperate in the fields of banking supervision and macroprudential oversight.
